PSA Conquers Europe: New Grading Center in Germany from 2026!
A piece of news that countless collectors of trading cards and memorabilia in Europe have been waiting for is now official: Professional Sports Authenticator (PSA), the world's leading provider for the authentication and grading of collectibles, will open a state-of-the-art grading center in Frankfurt am Main in the summer of 2026. This marks the company's first full-fledged facility on the European mainland and promises to bring lasting change to the European collector's market.
What does this mean for collectors in Germany and Europe?
Until now, the process of having cards and other collectibles graded by PSA has often been cumbersome, expensive, and time-consuming for European collectors. Shipping to the United States, dealing with customs, and long waiting times were significant hurdles. With the opening of the Frankfurt location, these problems will soon be a thing of the past.
The advantages are clear:
-
Shorter Turnaround Times: Eliminating transatlantic shipping will drastically reduce turnaround times.
-
Lower Costs: Collectors will save on expensive international shipping fees and potentially complicated customs procedures.
-
Simpler Processing: Direct submission in Germany will make the entire process more straightforward and accessible.
-
Closer to the Action: Having a direct point of contact on-site and physical proximity to the grading process builds greater trust and transparency.
Nat Turner, CEO of Collectors Universe, PSA's parent company, emphasized the growing importance of the European market: "Collectors and hobbyists exist in every region of the world, and Europe is one of the largest and fastest-growing markets for trading cards with a thriving collector community." Frankfurt was chosen due to its central location and excellent transport links, which will make it easier for collectors from all over Europe to have their treasures graded.
A Milestone for the European Collector's Market
PSA's expansion into Germany is a direct response to the sharp increase in demand for professionally graded collectibles in Europe. In recent years, the market for trading card games like Pokémon and Magic: The Gathering, as well as for sports cards and other memorabilia, has grown explosively. A PSA grade not only increases the value of an item but also provides reliable authentication and protection through its iconic, sealed plastic holder.
The opening of the center in Frankfurt will further professionalize the European market and strengthen confidence in the trade of high-quality collectibles. For German and European collectors, this marks the beginning of a new era—simpler, faster, and more cost-effective access to the gold standard of grading. The anticipation within the community is immense, and it will be exciting to see the new momentum this development brings to the hobby in Europe.
